The Executive Director's Team (Kim Burkhardt)

Because no one is just another brick in the wall.

As NC4RSO's Executive Director, I have a leadership responsibility to support NC4RSO's fundraising efforts. This is the page I use when talking to my contacts about supporting the civic role of NC4RSO in reducing prison recidivism, transforming lives, and improving community well-being. I ask each of you - people in my network - to support the important work we do every day.

NC4RSO is the national network of prison nonprofits - a coalition of community organizations that deliver programs in jails, prisons, and post-incarceration reentry. NC4RSO is a nationally registered nonprofit with the IRS.

The U.S. has 5% of the world's population and 25% of the world's prison population. 95% of people in U.S. prisons get released (some of them return to the community you live in). When they get released, I want them to have better life skills - skills and resources provided by community groups that deliver programming in jails, prisons, and reentry.  That's why your support is important. It's true that prison is sometimes necessary; it's also true that sitting in jail doesn't provide new life skills for people whose path landed them in jail.

I believe in the value of community groups delivering programs in jails to improve wellness - programs such as literacy and educational programs, workshops on nonviolent communication techniques, parenting classes (2.2% of U.S. children have at least one parent in jail), and reintegration programs.

As a national network, NC4RSO is the one-stop place to support the many local, regional, and national community organizations that deliver prison programming. NC4RSO, in turn, supports grassroots community  groups - member networking, the dissemination of "best practices" strategies, national dialogue on matters of common interest to member organizations, etc.

NC4RSO member organizations are a critical component of preparing people to succeed when they are released from jail or prison, thereby making our communities a better place for everyone.

Please join me in supporting NC4RSO.  My goal is to increase donations from my personal network each year so we can improve community wellness one person at a time through our national network of engaged citizens.  With your support, that goal is reachable. Please donate an amoun that fits your budget - whether that is $25, $50, $150, or another amount. You can even choose automated monthly donations - $25, $50, whatever is right for you.

NC4RSO is registered with the IRS as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, so your donation is even tax-deductible.

You can donate here to support Team Friends of NC4RSO.  If you prefer to mail in a check, mail it to NC4RSO, ATTN: Donations, 505 NE 70th St. #703, Seattle, WA  98115.  Put the name of my team on your check. Also, you can call in your donation to (206) 525-5056.
